Red River “Cultural Currents” Exhibition – 5/16 @ Around Red River District
Cultural Currents is a multi-format exhibition and storytelling initiative by the Red River Cultural District that celebrates, preserves, and promotes the neighborhood’s rich musical heritage, cultural traditions, and century-deep history. Rooted in place-based narratives, the project shines a light on the people, venues, and creative energy that have shaped Red River into one of Austin’s most vibrant cultural destinations.
Through immersive experiences and a mix of audio, visual, and documentary-style storytelling, Cultural Currents invites both residents and visitors to engage with the District in new ways. A self-guided walking tour, companion zine, and podcast extend the project beyond the exhibition itself – encouraging audiences to explore Red River’s stories in deeper and more dynamic ways.
