THE POWER RANKINGS: Minor movement in this week’s area volleyball rankings

Polls are largely subjective, as much an art as a science, especially early in the season. So, we were pretty pleased to see that our first stab at a Top 10 this season held up pretty well.

Those Top 10 teams when a combined 13-5 – with two ranked teams playing each other — in last week’s action. Yes, top-ranked Dripping Springs lost their only match of the week 3-2, but it was an apples-to-oranges matchup against a powerful private Cornerstone Christian team. Austin High swept Buda Johnson to leapfrog the Lady Jaguars while Westlake moved up a couple of spots and has key matchups this week against the Maroons and (barely) unranked Lake Travis. Cedar Ridge is on the bubble after a tough week.
